Lodi Woman Trying To Save Seven Historic Trees

LODI (CBS13) – A Lodi woman is trying to save seven of the city's landmark trees and she's using Craigslist to do it.

Seven palm trees have towered over Hutchins Street for 80 years.

But the city of Lodi plans to expand the street and that means the trees have to go.

But one woman who lives nearby is trying to save the landmark trees. Abby Rocco has put the palms on Craigslist for free. All you have to do is figure out how to move them.

"They're just beautiful trees. Aren't they? They're tall and beautiful and they've been here a lot longer than most of have," said Rocco.

The city has found a few contractors who can do the work.

They may charge over a grand each as they have to scoop the trees out and use a crane to level them onto a flat bed truck.

There is only one week left before the trees are chopped down.
