Lodi Man Reunited With Memories After Police Recover Stolen Camera, Computer
LODI (CBS13) — A Lodi man thought his memories were stolen, along with his camera and computer until a twist of fate brought them back again.
Nick Adams just moved to Lodi from Mississippi, and he's spent a great deal of time making memories and taking in all the beautiful sights that California has to offer.
"Been to Monterey, see the whales, seen the dolphins, seen the Golden Gate, been to Yosemite," he said. "This is a wonderful place."
All along the way, he was snapping photos. On many of his journeys his daughter was by his side.
"All my kids mean the world to me, like I said, this was a special occasion, just me and her, father daughter so it was special memories," he said.
Those memories were almost lost for good.
"I left my computer and camera in the car—you always think you're safe—I left it out there and I woke up on Sunday morning the 20th and found my car was unlocked and my computer and camera gone," he said.
And all of his memories were gone with it.
"When you lose things, they can be replaced, but sentimental things like pictures may not seem like much to other people but it's a memory of your children," he said.
He filed a police reports and hoped for the best, never thinking the unthinkable would happen. While on patrol, Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies found a bag and inside were all of Adams' belongings.
It took a little detective work, but they tracked him down and gave Adams a call.
"I told him he made me believe in the police department," he said. "That's something I never thought I would see again."
Adams is spending his free time reliving his memories one picture at a time, but he has a message for everyone out there to keep their things safe.
"Take it in the house; don't leave it out; never assume you're safe," he said. "I just got lucky this time."
