Lodi High Students Score Victory Against District Social-Media Policy
LODI (CBS13) — Lodi High School students scored a victory in their fight for free speech with the school district on Wednesday.
Amid pressure from attorneys, the Lodi Unified School District is suspending a controversial Twitter and Facebook policy.
It was just a week ago that students protested what they said was an unfair contract.
The policy stated if someone liked or retweeted something that was inappropriate or considered an act of bullying, then they could be suspended from sports or other extracurricular activities.
In a statement, the superintendent writes, "We will revise the statement in order to clearly communicate the original intent, which was to describe how social networking can lead to consequences at school.'
The district claims the contract was more of a guideline, and they are set to review it on Tuesday.
