Placer High School Locked Down After Report Of Gun
AUBURN (CBS13) -- A report of suspicious object sticking out of a backpack prompted a lockdown of Placer High School for more than an hour Tuesday afternoon, but police did not find a weapon.
Police got a 911 call from a student saying he saw a gun in a backpack on campus. The description was very detailed and specific so they took it seriously. About 10 officers searched all classrooms and looked through about 100 backpacks that resembled the description. No weapon found.
The school was locked down from 1:45 to 3:15. School usually gets out at 2:50. Students are now being allowed to go home. Buses had been staging at the fairgrounds.
Auburn police officers went room to room searching for a weapon but didn't find anything. Parents were alerted to the situation by the school's emergency system.
