Lincoln Man Faces Az. Bank Robbery Charges
PHOENIX (AP) -- A federal grand jury in Phoenix has returned a six-count indictment against a California man accused of multiple bank robberies in Arizona earlier this year.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Phoenix says 51-year-old Russell James Dean, of Lincoln, Calif., is accused of robbing six banks.
The indictment alleges that between Oct. 22 and Dec. 11, Dean robbed banks in Flagstaff, Phoenix, Prescott and Surprise.
The robber wore a Halloween-style rubber mask with a black hooded sweat shirt while displaying a gun. The robber was dubbed the "Skeletor Bandit" based on the mask's resemblance of a cartoon character.
Police arrested Dean on Dec. 11 following a holdup in west Phoenix.
Prosecutors say Dean is scheduled for trial on Feb. 1.
