Large Tree Crashes Into Carmichael Apartment Complex

CARMICHAEL (CBS13) – A large tree came crashing down in Carmichael overnight slamming into an apartment complex and cut in nearly in half.

CBS13 received a call at 3 a.m. reporting the 60-foot pine tree toppled onto Autumn Woods Apartments, a one-story apartment complex on Landis Drive and Fair Oaks Boulevard. The tree caused significant damage to the building.

No injuries have been reported, but the incident forced the evacuation of two apartment units.

Nearby residents were awoken by the sound of chainsaws as workers cut branches from the fallen tree. They came to see what was happening and didn't need much of an explanation.

Fortunately for residents, the tree fell directly onto the support beam of the roof.

"The house is holding up the tree. As we take limbs off, the tree will shift, causing the whole thing to shift," said Sam Ashrock, of Triple A Quality Tree Service.

The tree service is telling anyone who wants firewood to come out to the Autumn Woods Apartments on Landis Drive and get it. There is a lot of wood. Crews from the tree service will be back on Wednesday to clean up the rest of the wood.
