Lake Tahoe Olympian's Mom Accused In Nationwide Pot-Distribution Ring

HAMBURG, N.Y. (AP) — The mother of an Olympic snowboarder has been charged with being part of a nationwide marijuana-distribution ring after police say she was arrested outside Buffalo with more than $77,000 in cash intended for a drug shipment.

Authorities announced yesterday that 51-year-old Myra Hight of South Lake Tahoe, Calif., was arrested Feb. 20 in the town of Hamburg and charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and illegal possession of a stun gun.

Police say they believe she was part of a drug ring that delivered pot to Western states as well as the Buffalo area.

Hight is being held in federal custody on $1 million bail. Information on her lawyer wasn't immediately available.

Hight is the mother of two-time Olympic snowboarder Elena Hight.
