Knife-Wielding Suspect Shot By Sacramento County Deputies
CARMICHAEL (CBS13) -- A man was shot at an apartment in Carmichael this morning after he allegedly fired a gun and threatened deputies with a knife.
Deputies got a call early Friday morning from a woman at an apartment complex at 5018 Marconi Ave. who said she saw a man fire shots from an automatic weapon while holding a knife. The suspect then went inside an apartment.
Deputies arrived at the complex, and after searching for the suspect, ended up at his apartment. When they knocked on the door the suspect came out with a knife raised above his head and ran at deputies. When he refused deputies' orders to stop, two deputies fired at the suspect, hitting him once in the torso. He dropped the knife and went back inside the apartment.
When they entered the apartment, deputies detained the suspect until paramedics arrived.
He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The suspect will be booked into the Sacramento Main Jail on charges that include assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer.
Both of the deputies were placed on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
