Kings Interested In Free Agent Josh Smith

According to Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, the Sacramento Kings aren't done shopping for free agents and have interest in forward Josh Smith.

Smith, 29, played the second half of last season on the Houston Rockets, only to fall in the playoffs to the eventual champion Golden State Warriors. Smith played his first nine NBA seasons starting for the Atlanta Hawks. In July of 2013, Smith signed with the Detroit Pistons for $14 million per year, only to be waived 28 games into the season last year. The Rockets picked him up and played him roughly 25 minutes per game.

The power forward previously played with new King Rajon Rondo at Oak Hill Academy, so he may be interested in signing with the Sacramento franchise. Smith had his worst season since his sophomore season last year, posting 12.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists. His career numbers are a little more appealing (15.1/7.7/3.2), and he may have some fuel left in his tank.

The Kings currently have a lineup of Rajon Rondo, Ben McLemore (or newcomer Marco Belinelli), Rudy Gay, DeMarcus Cousins and rookie Willie Cauley-Stein. Smith could get some decent playing time off the bench if the Kings decide to add the former Dunk Contest champion.
