Kings Hopeful For High NBA Lottery Draft Pick [Poll]
While just four teams remain in the playoffs, the league's 14 teams that missed the postseason will sit in a room tonight to find out the order of the upcoming NBA draft. Dozens of random bouncing of ping pong balls will determine who the lucky team will be, an NBA tradition that has helped or hurt teams over the years (ex. Cleveland winning three out of the last four years).
The Sacramento Kings, who finished with a 29-53 record, will receive the sixth best odds of landing the No. 1 pick overall. Last year, Kings owner Vivek Ranadivé elected his daughter to represent the organization as his lucky charm. The team received the eighth pick and ended up picking guard Nik Stauskas.
This year, the Kings will send the team's vice president Vlade Divac to land a higher pick. They have a 6.3 percent chance of getting the top spot, but anything higher than 6th would be a big victory.
The last time the Kings had the first choice in the draft was in 1989 when they picked Pervis Ellison out of the University of Louisville. He only played one season with Sacramento and would be considered a bust. Math says the Kings will get sixth, but hey, anything could happen.
