Kings Boat Race Lakers, 132-114
The Kings got off the hook after a disappointing home opener, cruising to a 132-114 victory over the Lakers on Friday night at Sleep Train Arena.
DeMarcus Cousins, Rajon Rondo, and Rudy Gay spearheaded an explosive offensive attack with 61 of the Kings' 132 points in a game that Sacramento put out of reach early, leading 40-24 after the first quarter. They led by as many as 31 in the second half, and though the Lakers pieced together enough of a push to get within 19 entering the fourth quarter, it was hardly enough to threaten a Kings victory.
Willie Cauley-Stein was effective in his first career start, tallying 17 points and 9 rebounds in 30 minutes. He also added 3 blocks.
DeMarcus Cousins added a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds in 28 minutes.
Jordan Clarkson provided the offensive spark with 22 points for the Lakers (0-2), who face Dallas on Sunday.
The Kings (1-1) have won 7 of their last 9 against the Lakers at Sleep Train Arena. They seek to avenge a season-opening loss to the Clippers in Los Angeles on Saturday.
