Kings Beat Suns 102-97
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — DeMarcus Cousins had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Sacramento Kings, who defeated the Phoenix Suns 102-97 on Wednesday night in the preseason opener for both teams.
Jimmer Fredette ignited the Kings in the fourth quarter, hitting two free throws, then connecting on a 3-pointer a minute later to put Sacramento ahead 92-77 with 6:45 remaining.
Wesley Johnson scored 18 points and Markieff Morris had 16 points and seven rebounds for the Suns. Michael Beasley added 14 points.
Rookie forward Thomas Robinson had 12 points and eight rebounds for Sacramento. Both Fredette and Marcus Thornton added 10 points.
The slimmed-down Cousins played 26 minutes. He was 5 of 15 from the field and 10 of 13 from the free throw line.
