Kings Announce Preseason Schedule Against Warriors
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Christmas will come a few days earlier for those NBA fans who have been longing for some basketball and who may have feared the 2011-12 season was lost.
With the NBA owners and players having reached a tentative agreement to end the lockout, the Sacramento Kings announced their abbreviated preseason schedule on Thursday. The Kings will play Northern California rival Golden State twice, the first game at Oracle Arena in Oakland on Saturday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and the second at Power Balance Pavilion on Tuesday, Dec. 20 at 7.
Each NBA team will only play two preseason games this season after the labor lockout wiped out the first two months of the season. Teams will play a 66-game schedule, down from the normal 82 games, with the season starting on Christmas day.
The Kings are set to open their season Dec. 26 at home.
On Thursday, the players authorizing the return of their union, the first step necessary to ratifying an agreement with owners. The hope is to ratify the collective bargaining agreement in times for teams to open training camps on Dec. 9.
