Kidnap Victim Rescued After 2 Days Without Water
ROWLAND HEIGHTS, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles County authorities have rescued a woman they say was held for ransom for two days without any food or water.
Authorities say the 44-year-old woman was kidnapped at gunpoint Monday after a woman she had worked with for years offered her a ride home.
Her family got a call demanding $110,000 and warning she'd be harmed or killed if it wasn't paid.
About 25 sheriff's detectives worked around the clock, and on Wednesday they found the woman bound with duct tape in a dark, squalid Rowland Heights garage. The Sheriff's Department says she was weak and dehydrated but is expected to make a full recovery.
No ransom was paid.
