Kansas City Chiefs Linebacker Leads Rush To Replace Stolen Mission Solano Turkeys
FAIRFIELD (CBS13) — A Kansas City Chiefs linebacker's donation and pleas helped replace several hundred turkeys that were stolen from Mission Solano.
Chiefs player and Fairfield native James Michael Johnson donated $1,000 when he heard the shelter was robbed of several hundred turkeys.
"I figured I am in a situation where I can help, where I can give back, so that is something I wanted to do," Johnson said.
He also encouraged people to donate to the shelter.
And they did.
The mission, which normally has about 900 turkeys this time of the year how has 1,200—some of which it plans on using for Christmas.
The group had planned to collect nearly 1,000 turkeys to serve the homeless in the Fairfield area.
