Justin Bieber, Sacramento R&B Singer Khalil, Arrested In Miami For DUI, Street Racing

MIAMI (CBS/AP) - Singer Justin Bieber and his friends are in trouble with the law again. But this time, one friend also facing charges has Sacramento ties.

Bieber was arrested on drag-racing, DUI and resisting arrest charges Thursday after allegedly speeding down a residential Miami Beach street in a yellow Lamborghini on an expired license. He is being held at a Miami-Dade County jail pending an initial appearance expected later Thursday. Authorities say Bieber was arrested after police saw him and R&B singer Khalil, who is from Sacramento, racing two luxury vehicles down the street at 4:09 a.m., with two other vehicles apparently being used to block off the area.

Both Bieber and Khalil face drag-racing and driving under the influence charges.

Khalil, whose full name is Khalil Amir Sharieff, was signed to Island Def Jam Records at age 15.  ABC News reports that in 2011, Khalil was no longer signed to the company and doesn't appear on its website.

Television footage early Thursday showed a van thought to be carrying Bieber from a Miami Beach police station to a Miami-Dade County jail. The van, with blacked-out windows, was trailed by squad cars. After the van left the station, police said Bieber was gone.

According to the arrest affadavit, Bieber told police he was coming back from recording music at a studio when he was stopped.

Police said Bieber was driving a Lamborghini and Khalil was driving a Ferrari. Both cars were towed. Police say Bieber was clocked at 55 to 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Bieber failed a field sobriety test and was taken to the Miami Beach police station for a Breathalyzer, police said. Results haven't been released.

After Bieber was booked into custody, his face looked flushed, he had bloodshot eyes and smelled like alcohol.

This photo of Bieber driving with a girl in the yellow Lamborghini he was in when he was arrested, was posted at around 11 p.m. on an Instagram account believed to be Khalil's.

Bieber had been reportedly spotted at various Miami Beach in the last week. He allegedly spent thousands of dollars at a strip club.

Bieber has been accused of wrongdoing in California, but has never been arrested or charged. He is currently under investigation in a felony vandalism case after a neighbor reported the pop star threw eggs at his house and caused thousands of dollars of damage.

Bieber was released on $2,500 bond.
