iPhone Theft: Teen Holds 12-Year-Old At Gunpoint To Steal Apple Gear
ELK GROVE (CBS13) — A 12-year-old boy was robbed of his iPhone by a 15-year-old wielding a rifle.
Both of the victim's brothers saw the crime happen and they talked only to CBS13's Cambi Brown.
They boys' mom says they were lured to an area in a field near Elk Grove High School in an effort to steal the iPhone.
Neighborhood friends quickly turned on the brothers, bringing them behind a haystack where Elk Grove police say a 15-year-old took out a .22-caliber rifle. The boys say he was hiding it in his pants.
"He pulled out the rifle and started aiming at everybody in the head."
The teen never shot the gun, but the boys say he did use it as a weapon.
"They all had lumps on their heads from being hit with the gun."
The gun was a scare tactic, all to try and get 12-year-old Brandon's iPhone.
"He told my brother, Brandon, give him the phone or he was going to shoot him."
The boys say they were scared and worried the teen would shoot the rifle.
"My brother ran up behind me and said, 'Please don't shoot us, we didn't do nothing.'"
Brandon gave the teen the iPhone and they say he ran away. The brothers ran home and told their parents what happened. Police say the teen is on probation and the rifle found in his room. He's now in juvenile detention.
The boys still want to enjoy their summer vacation, but it's scary for their mom, who can't believe a 12-year-old would be held at gunpoint in their neighborhood.
"He wanted the iPhone, and all of this was because of an iPhone."
