Investigators: Woman Found Dead Near Tracks In South Sacramento Had Been Shot
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A woman's body that was found near the railroad tracks north of Calvine Road in South Sacramento is being investigated as a homicide.
Sacramento County Sheriff's Department homicide detectives now say the woman was shot to death.
Around 9 a.m., a passerby found the body of a woman near the railroad tracks just north of Calvine Road. When deputies arrived, they confirmed the woman had died and say she head trauma, according to a Sacramento County Sheriff's Department statement.
Nearby residents say they heard gunshots on Sunday night.
The area where the body was found is near some homeless camps.
The woman's identity is being withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
