Placer County Inmates, Deputies & K-9 Taken To Hospital After Possible Fentanyl Exposure
PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) — The Placer County Sheriff's Department said several inmates have been transported to local hospitals for suspected Fentanyl exposure.
The Roseville Fire Department said they responded to the South Placer Jail at 3 p.m. Monday after reports of an inmate showing an altered level of consciousness.
Fire units found multiple inmates as well as deputies suffering unknown medical issues. Officials said it was determined one of the prisoners had brought an unknown substance into the jail booking area.

The Fire Department said currently four inmates, eight deputies, and one K-9 officer were treated on the scene and put through a decontamination process before being transported to area hospitals.
Three other inmates were treated and decontaminated but not transported.
Firefighters are currently working to determine what the substance is that was brought into the jail.
The incident has been isolated, and firefighters said there is no threat to anyone else at the facility.
New bookings are being diverted to the Auburn Jail.
