Ice Cream Vendor Dies In Modesto Shooting

MODESTO (CBS13) -- Two suspects have been detained for the murder of a Modesto ice cream vendor, who may have been gunned down in a botched robbery, authorities said.

The Modesto Police Department said the bicycle-riding vendor was wounded near the intersection of Madison Street and Linden Street at about 4:00 p.m. Saturday, and died from his injuries at a local hospital early Sunday morning.

Investigators said they identified and arrested two suspects overnight who are believed to be responsible for the murder. The suspects were described by police as a 19-year-old male adult and a 15-year-old male juvenile.

The identity of the victim has been withheld pending notification of his family, police said.
