Fresh snow in the Sierra Nevada causing closures, spin-outs
TRUCKEE – A fresh coating of snow is blanketing the Sierra Nevada on Monday, causing a traffic mess along high country roads.
Chain controls are in effect on Interstate 80 and Highway 50 as of the morning hours.
Highlighting how treacherous conditions are, eastbound I-80 traffic is being held at Baxter due to spinouts.
Even experienced high country drivers are cautioning against travel, with near white-out conditions possible higher up the mountains
Drivers should expect delays and possible closures through the morning.
