Hundreds Of Rocklin Residents Without Power For Hours After Storm
ROCKLIN (CBS13) - More than 200 Rocklin residents were without power for two days after the last of a series of storms hit.
It was a round three direct punch that knocked out power to the Whitney Ranch neighborhood, but it was just after 10 Sunday morning and people there weren't too worried.
"I thought it would be back in an hour or two," Dave Marchitelli said.
He was off by more than 30 hours. The 220 customers were still in the dark until about 9:30 p.m. Monday night.
That meant Dave's generator was still going all day Monday trying to keep food from going bad.
After a day of working out of his car - his computer and phone powered by his home office on four wheels, Dave had had enough.
"Yeah, it looks like we're headed to Thunder Valley to grab a hotel and go to dinner because there's no sense in hanging out here," he said before the power was finally restored.
Brian Ceragioli chose not only to hang out, he was reaching new heights in his powerless state. We caught this "glass is half full" kind of guy putting up his Christmas lights - minus the sparkle.
"But we're optimistic it's going to be on soon, I hope," he said.
But as day turned to dusk, the Hail Mary pass in search of power hadn't been completed and this neighborhood "watch and wait" program was getting old.
And painful for some. Just ask Jacki Kish. She snagged her finger on her garage door as she tried to close it:
"I fractured it and have four stitches," she said. "It's the worst pain I've ever felt in my life."
Painful and powerless. For those still in the dark, it wasn't a good feeling.
