Homicide investigation underway after man shot on Alder Avenue in south Sacramento
SACRAMENTO — An argument or possible dispute may have led up to a shooting, that left a 45-year-old man dead on Alder Avenue in south Sacramento County on Wednesday.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, Amar Gandhi, said deputies responded at around 5 p.m. to reports of a man shot in the neck. EMTs performed life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by loved ones, who came to Alder Avenue to learn more about what happened, as 45-year-old Kevin Keil. Law enforcement has not confirmed his identity.
Keil's loved ones believe he knew the suspect who was involved in the shooting.
Late Wednesday night, investigators were canvassing Alder Avenue for witnesses or potential security camera video. On Sunday, Andrew Jones, 42, was arrested in Placerville and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of murder.
It's the second deadly shooting the sheriff's office was investigating on Wednesday. The other one was in Fair Oaks. A man was found dead in a Kenneth Avenue home, and authorities said two other people who lived there were taken into custody.
The timing of both homicides allowed the SCSO's homicide investigation team to move from one scene to the next without much delay, according to Gandhi.
