Homemade Pipe Bomb Found In Fairfield Home

FAIRFIELD (CBS13) – Parts of a major street in Fairfield were shutdown on Tuesday after a man found a homemade pipe bomb while cleaning out a home, according to the Fairfield Police Department.

The man discovered the explosive device while cleaning a home on the 300 block of Travis Boulevard around 5 p.m. The man brought the pipe bomb outside and flagged down a passing Fairfield fire crew.
Police then showed up and closed down Travis Boulevard and evacuated a nearby CBS Pharmacy as a precaution.

According to Lt. Al Bagos, it was the second pipe bomb found at the home. Another family member apparently discovered one the day before. That person unscrewed the top and emptied the contents into a trash can.

The Yolo County Bomb Squad was called and rendered the device safe. They also checked the home to see if there were any other explosive devices.
