Home Invasion Suspect Shot By Homeowner
CITRUS HEIGHTS (CBS13) – A suspect in an early morning home invasion was hurt after being shot by the homeowner and collapsing in front of a home a mile away, according to police.
Police identified the suspect as 29-year-old Aaron Freres.
Freres is suspected of breaking into a home on Northgrove Way around 2 a.m.
The homeowner woke up after hearing glass break inside the home and armed himself with a handgun.
The homeowner confronted Freres as he exited a bathroom and asked what he was doing in the house. When Freres apparently moved toward the homeowner, the homeowner fired his gun.
Freres ran away after being shot in the wrist. He was arrested after a resident about a mile away called police saying there was a man bleeding in front of his home.
Freres was arrested after being treated at the hospital for his gunshot wound.
Police say it appears Freres knew a woman who lived in the house, but she was not home at the time of the incident.
