Hit And Run Suspect Arrested In Southern California
STOCKTON (CBS13) -- Southern California authorities have arrested the woman believed to be responsible for the hit-and-run death of a 3-year-old boy in Stockton, police said.
Aushua McDuff-Brown allegedly ran down 3-year-old Ruben Ramirez in front of the Madison Market on Monday afternoon, accidentally striking the boy when she tried to hit another woman during a fight.
Friends said McDuff-Brown, who has a 3-year-old boy of her own, disappeared after the alleged incident and hasn't been seen since.
The victim's family said they couldn't understand why McDuff-Brown would continue running from law enforcement two days after the boy's death and urged her to turn herself in.
"If you are such a good person and mom, if there's any dignity, pride or respect as a mother, why are you running?" said Ruben's aunt, Kayla Sandova.
Investigators have not said which law enforcement agency took McDuff-Brown into custody but said she will likely be returned to San Joaquin County on Thursday.
