Storm Tapers Off After Big Rain, Snow Totals

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) - The winter's first big storm dumped several inches of rain in the valley and several feet of snow in the mountains.

Rain had moved out of valley and foothills by Monday afternoon, winds were dying down, leaving clearing and cool conditions.

Sierra snow continued above 4,500 feet Monday but was expected to taper off. Boreal reported receiving 5 feet of fresh snow over the weekend.

Valley residents can expect fog the next few mornings, with chilly temps in upper 30s, followed by afternoon sunshine with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Heavy downpours overnight caused some fairly severe street-level flooding in the Sacramento area, creating some dangerous driving conditions.

One area particularly bad was at Bradshaw Road and Micron Avenue where there was at least one accident.
