Heat Wave Continues Before Weekend Cooling Trend

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A summer heat wave continues to hover over the Sacramento region, with Wednesday and Thursday expected to be the hottest days of the week.

The high in Sacramento on Wednesday is forecast at 107 and Thursday it's expected to hit 105, according to the National Weather Service.

High temperatures are forecast to range from 100 to 110 degrees around the valley and 80s and 90s in the mountains through Friday. Minimum temperatures will also be warm, with some of the foothill locations only dropping into the 70s overnight for the rest of the week.

Low pressure moving into the area is expected to bring a cooling trend by the weekend, with temperatures dropping back into the mid-90s.

During the extremely hot days, the National Weather Services advises:

  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day.
  • Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
  • Wear light-weight and light-colored clothing.
