UPDATE: Hazmat Call Cleared At Apple Campus In Elk Grove
ELK GROVE (CBS13) - For the second time in the past few months, Hazmat officials responded to a false alarm at the Apple distribution center in Elk Grove.
An employee at the facility at 2511 Laguna Blvd. was working on an iPod when a white powder reportedly came out of the ear plug Wednesday morning and the employee said he became sick.
A county Hazmat team determined the substance was simply corrosion. The iPad was mailed to the facility from New York for repair. Employees were moved away from the area where the man was working but were not evacuated.
Employees at the distribution center were evacuated back in November after a suspicious package was found. The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department brought in the bomb squad to investigate, but Elk Grove police said the package contained an iPad and was no threat to the public.
