Hazmat Scare Clears Sacramento County Coroner's Office
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- The Sacramento County Coroner's office was evacuated Tuesday after a package containing what fire officials called "a suspicious substance" was found inside.
Emergency crews declared a hazmat level II situation at the building on Broadway at around 11:00 a.m. after employees opened a package in the mail room addressed to the Body Donation Program that contained a suspicious powder with a strange odor.
Sacramento Fire Dept. officials now say the substance is harmless, and could possibly be cosmetics or hot chocolate.
Coroner's office employees who were evacuated from the building have since been allowed to go back inside.
