Gunman Hits Radio Shack In Broad Daylight

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Investigators are searching for an armed robber who forced his way into an electronics store in broad daylight.

Police said the gunman, described as a black male in his 20s, entered the Radio Shack on Freeport Boulevard wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and a surgical mask during the afternoon.

The suspect pulled a black semi-automatic handgun out of a bag and forced a clerk to the back of the store, demanding that a manager open the cash register.

"The manager was taking the money out and I saw [the suspect] take the gun and put it right behind him," said one employee, who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisals.

The suspect forced open the electronics cage and fled after stealing an undisclosed amount of money and gadgets.

Nearby businesses have suffered vandalism recently, but there is no word from investigators on whether the incidents are related.
