Gov. Brown Evasive On Possible Re-Election Plans
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gov. Jerry Brown is remaining coy about whether he will seek an unprecedented fourth term next year, despite a Hollywood fundraiser this week that could pad his campaign war chest significantly.
Brown declined to discuss the fundraiser during an event in Sacramento on Tuesday, saying he doesn't "jump into these things lightly."
Still, the 75-year-old Democrat is widely expected to seek another term. He said he is "aware that in November of next year there will be an election."
Hollywood heavyweights such as DreamWorks Animation Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg and director Steven Spielberg are among the hosts of Thursday's fundraiser in Bel-Air.
Two Republicans, former Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado and state Assemblyman Tim Donnelly of Twin Peaks, have so far declared they will run.
