Girlfriend Of LA Beating Suspect Jailed In Vegas
LAS VEGAS (AP) -- The girlfriend of the primary suspect in a beating that left a San Francisco Giants fan with severe head injuries at Dodger Stadium was charged with trafficking drugs after being arrested in a Las Vegas casino, authorities said.
Denise Piccione, 26, was being held Thursday in Clark County jail on $21,000 bail after being charged with trafficking methamphetamine, possession of the drug with intent to sell, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
Los Angeles police Chief Charlie Beck has identified her boyfriend, Giovanni Ramirez, as the prime suspect in the March 31 beating of Bryan Stow. Ramirez has not been charged in the beating and remains in jail on a parole violation.
Officer Norma Eisenhman, a Los Angeles police spokeswoman, said the department had no comment on the arrest of Piccione.
Attorney Anthony Brooklier, who represents Ramirez, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Stow, 42, remains in a San Francisco area hospital, recovering from brain injuries suffered in a stadium parking lot.
Piccione appeared in court Wednesday but did not enter a plea. Her public defender Cesely Hopper, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
Piccione is scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 27.
