Girl Scout Cookies Arrive In One Mega Drop
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Cookies, cookies and more cookies. It's called the mega drop — Girl Scout cookies have arrived and are ready to be delivered.
"Over a million boxes of cookies in one day," said Jean DeCamilla with the Girl Scouts' Heart of Central California. "We have it down to science."
The boxes dropped off Saturday are for the entire Northern California region. It takes a lot to get all these calories moved — hundreds of volunteers in fact.
Troop leaders said they were pleased with the mega drop system.
"Very organized and easy," said Wendy Chenkovich with Troop 507. "We have 95 cases of a variety of cookies. This is my first year doing this and I'm pretty impressed."
They'll be delivering all your favorites, from caramel delights to peanut butter patties.
The young girls were also impressed with the cookie operation.
"It's exciting. It's really fun," Andrea Jensen said. "It's kind of cool to see how many cookies there are. I pulled up and it was unbelievable. I was shocked."
And they are already preparing their best sales pitch for you.
"I state my name, the troop number and I give a little background to the troop and what we're doing," Jensen said. "I give them their options and usually that's enough."
Local Girl Scouts expect to earn more than $1 million from the annual cookie sales, which starts Feb. 24 and runs through March 18.
