Girl Pleads Not Guilty To Murder Of Father

MODESTO, Calif. (AP) -- A 17-year-old girl has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges stemming from a Mother's Day attack that left her father dead and mother seriously injured.

Shanna Wills, who is being tried as an adult, entered her pleas on Thursday in Stanislaus County Superior Court. She is charged with murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

Prosecutors say Wills fatally stabbed her 62-year-old father, Kenneth Wills, and wounded her mother Susan Wills, 61 after an argument.

One of the couple's other daughters, Kristy Duncan, has said the fight started when Wills, who had been kicked out of the house, returned to get clothes.

Wills is due back in court June 13 for a preliminary hearing.
