Gilley Found Guilty By Jury In 2011 Murder Of Dalene Carlson
STOCKTON (CBS13) – The Stockton man accused in the 2011 disappearance and murder of a 23-year-old woman was found guilty of first-degree murder Thursday.
Jason Gilley was on trial for kidnapping, raping and murdering Dalene Carson, who vanished from a Stockton bar on Aug. 7.
He was also found guilty of kidnapping, but a mistrial was declared on the rape charge.
Police say "inconsistencies" in Gilley's statements led to his arrest two weeks after Carson's disappearance.
A dozen witnesses testified during Gilley's three day preliminary hearing, revealing in part that Gilley gave a false alibi, changed his story multiple times, and was likely in possession of the murder weapon during the night Carson vanished from Finnegan's Bar.
