Giants Fan Beating Suspect Sent To San Diego Prison
SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The man Los Angeles police have said is a suspect in the near-fatal beating of a San Francisco Giants fan outside Dodger Stadium has been sent to state prison in San Diego for an unrelated parole violation.
Corrections officials said Tuesday that Giovanni Ramirez, who was arrested last month in the attack on Bryan Stow, will serve 10 months at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, after investigators found a handgun at the Los Angeles apartment where he was staying.
This potential access to the gun was enough for officials to decide last week to revoke Ramirez's parole in a previous conviction not related to the Stow beating.
Ramirez's attorneys assert their client was not at Dodger Stadium the night of the attack.
