George Karl Is 'Disappointed, Confused' Over Vance Walberg Firing
On Wednesday night, Yahoo Sports reported that the Sacramento Kings let go assistant coach Vance Walberg.
The team's GM Vlade Divac stated that "this was a tough decision made after consideration of what is best for the team moving forward...We want to thank Vance for his contributions to the organization and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
Head Coach George Karl spoke with the Sacramento Bee saying he was 'disappointed' and 'confused' by the decision. He even talked highly of Walberg. "He's that good, he's that talented, he's brilliant in a lot of ways ... there's no question I'm disappointed and confused."
The Kings have struggled a lot recently. Espeically in the area of defense. Firing an assistant coach for the team's troubles, is not right according to Karl.
"It's not (the assistant coaches') decisions, it's my decisions," Karl said. "The criticism should be of me."
Sacramento will host the Denver Nuggets on Friday night. The game will also be a homecoming for former Kings' head coach, Michael Malone.
