Gas Prices Continue To Skyrocket, Frustrating Drivers
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — Gas prices continue to click higher and higher every day, climbing steadily to an all-time high.
The result is bumper to bumper lines at those stations selling fuel a few cents lower than everybody else.
"I go to Safeway because I get well, 10 cents off now its 30 cents off," one Sacramento driver told CBS13.
A month ago the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Sacramento was $3.64, according to AAA. Saturday the average was more than 50 cents higher at $4.16. The statewide average was $4.25, compared to $3.65 this time last year.
"It's gonna be $5 a gallon in the summer if they don't do anything about it," one frustrated driver said while fueling up earlier this week.
With the prices continuing to rise, the Safeway station in Natomas, where gas is sold at a discount, is always busy.
"It's hazardous," a customer said. "It's always busy because it's the best gas prices around."
Analysts say prices are going up along with the stock market and tensions over Iran, which cut off oil exports to some European countries.
"Everybody's fueling up because they know it's going up," one driver said.
