Gas Leak Capped In Nevada City
NEVADA CITY (CBS13) – Evacuations were ordered in downtown Nevada City after a gas line was ruptured Saturday evening.
The Nevada City Police Department said a car caused a leak before 8:00 p.m. Saturday when a driver backed into a gas main on the 300 block of Spring Street.
A two block radius surrounding the site of the damaged gas line was placed under a mandatory evacuation order, authorities said, affecting at least 1,500 residents.
Utility crews capped the gas leak shortly after 9:00 p.m. and the evacuations were lifted shortly afterward.
