Gas Leak Forces Evacuation Of Citrus Heights Apartment Complex
CITRUS HEIGHTS, Calif. (CBS13) - More than one-hundred people spent several hours out on the street overnight after a Citrus Heights apartment complex was evacuated for a gas leak.
Someone backed into a bank of gas meters at the Sierra Oaks Apartments on Auburn Boulevard near Antelope Road.
The car apparently ruptured the line that delivers gas to all the units.
Because the gas line was broken off at ground level there was no way to shut off the gas forcing residents to evacuate the building.
PG&E crews had to excavate to find the main gas line before turning off the gas.
No injuries were reported.
