Galleria Crews Say Paychecks Coming Late, Low
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) -- Some of the workers hired to clean up and rebuild the Roseville Galleria say they have been forced to wait for hours for paychecks that only deliver part of what they are owed.
Command Center hired hundreds of workers immediately after the fire caused tens of millions of dollars in damage to the upscale mall last month, but company representatives said Tuesday night a clerical error temporarily disrupted their payroll procedures.
Fuming workers said they feel like they are being taken for granted after errors started showing up in their paychecks.
"I feel like I'm not being treated right, I'm not getting paid right," said Kevin Hunley.
A long line stretched out of Command Center's administrative location as workers waited Wednesday morning for the corrected paychecks, but some workers said they are still being shortchanged.
"By the time I got to the desk, they didn't have my hours, they didn't have my check or anything," said Daniel Cunningham. "I had to fill out a whole new application. They didn't even have that."
Another worker, Freddy Hunley, said his paycheck only covered three days, even though he worked a week.
"I think it's just kind of disorganized. What can I do? Getting angry about it not gonna do me any good," Freddy said.
Company representatives for Balfor, the company in charge of the cleanup, told CBS13 they will cut ties with Command Center and go with a new vendor if their employees aren't getting paid.
Command Center representatives said staff members are still working hard to get everyone paid.
