Freezing Winter Temperatures Ahead
Cold air is set to take over Northern California this week, with temperatures dropping well below freezing in many locations.
Monday will bring a few extra clouds ahead of our system, which is still in Canada. By late Monday and early Tuesday, rain and snow showers will develop along the Sierra. Snow levels are set to drop around 2,500 feet.
Rain and snow won't be the main factor with the system; it will be the cold arctic air. Daytime highs will fall in the valley from the mid 60s to the mid 50s from Monday to Wednesday.
The coldest air will take hold Thursday though, with highs in the upper 40s in Sacramento and lows dipping down into the upper 20s.
The frigid temperatures will stick around until the weekend, with sunny skies for most of the region.
