Four Teens Arrested After Taxi Driver Assaulted With Flashlight
WOODLAND (CBS13) - Instead of receiving his fare, a taxi cab driver was hit in the face with a flashlight early Sunday morning.
Driver James Mooney, 46, of Woodland reported to police that a group of four boys and one girl fled after one person in the group hit Mooney with the flashlight.
The incident happened at about 4:20 a.m. after the cab driver picked up the from suspects from the 100 block of W. Elliot Street and drove them to 2600 block of Garrett Way in Woodland.
Mooney reported that all five suspects ran to a nearby residence. Officers of the Woodland Police Department surrounded the residence and demanded that the occupants come out and surrender. When the suspects failed to comply, officers entered by force.
Two suspects surrendered without incident, one a 17-year-old boy and the other a 17-year-old girl. Two other suspects were located in the attic crawlspace of the two-story house.
A Woodland Police Canine Unit was called to the scene. After giving notice and an adequate time for the suspects to respond, the police canine was deployed and the two suspects apprehended. Both were also 17.
All four suspects were taken to Woodland Memorial Hospital to be medically cleared before being booked into Yolo County Juvenile Hall for robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and resisting arrest.
