Former Oak Ridge High School Principal Filing Lawsuit Following Dismissal
EL DORADO HILLS (CBS13) - Paul Burke, the former principal at Oak Ridge High School in El Dorado Hills, says he will file a lawsuit after he was fired following a months-long probation.
The El Dorado Union High School District Board of Trustees held a closed session Monday night to discuss the status of Burke, who was placed on paid leave in November 2015 for what the board was calling a personnel matter.
The board then voted unanimously to release Burke after this year.
In response to his firing, Burke's lawyer, Jacob D. Flesher, said in a statement Monday Burke is filing a lawsuit against the El Dorado Union High School District, Superintendent Stephen Wehr, Assistant Superintendent Tony DeVille, and "other District employees" for "unlawful retaliation, discrimination based on a perceived disability, defamation, and violations of the Brown Act."
Burke said in a statement Monday he was falsely accused of harrasment.

"We continue to investigate additional potential claims, including another potential violation based on the District's published agenda at tonight's Board Meeting," said Flesher.
Students at Oak Ridge and their parents have taken to social media to voice their anger at Burke's firing. A sit-in was planned for the first period on Tuesday.
