Former MLB Prospect Killed In Argument Over Candy
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. (AP) -- A former first-round draft pick of the Los Angeles Angels, Ryan Bolden, was killed in an argument that started over candy.
Police in the Atlanta suburb of College Park said the 23-year-old Bolden was shot Wednesday night and died later at an Atlanta hospital.
They said witnesses reported that a dispute between children over candy escalated with adults getting involved and Bolden being shot. Police spokesman Jeff Hightower said Friday they are interviewing people but have not filed charges.
Boden played for Madison Central High School in Mississippi and was the 40th overall pick in the 2010 draft. He played in the minors for parts of four seasons before retiring due to back problems.
