Former Calif. Plastic Surgeon Gets 6 Years In Deal
STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- A former California plastic surgeon accused of molesting dozens of female patients has pleaded guilty in a deal that will send him to prison for 6 years.
Peter Chi entered his plea Thursday in San Joaquin County Superior Court to 36 counts of felony sexual battery by fraud, one for each of the women who accused him of inappropriate touching.
The Stockton Record reports that the 48-year-old has to register as a sex offender as part of his plea deal, which also avoids a trial that was scheduled to start in January.
A grand jury indicted Chi on 67 criminal counts last year for inappropriately touching 36 women ranging in age from 21- to 62-years-old and one teenager.
Most of the patients filed civil lawsuits against Chi, which he settled for $1.8 million in May.
Chi is scheduled for sentencing in April.
