Forecast: Cool Weather Continues For The Week
On Friday and Saturday we were in the 90s in the valley, but now we're seeing rain. As a result, temperatures will only be in the 70s this week with wild swings in the weather.
It was a wet night and will continue in time for your morning commute. Rain is moving to the valley bringing steady showers in downtown Sacramento, approaching the Davis area. Light rain is falling in Elk Grove.
Once you pass Gold River on Highway 50 and Cameron Park, we're seeing some heavy bans of rain. There is some action north of Pollock pines as well, stretching to the Georgetown area and the highest Sierra locations.
And up north, you could see rain in the Yuba City area. It will continue to fill in as you head toward the morning and in the afternoon with a chance of thunderstorms. Keep the umbrellas handy.
Expect steady rains in the foothills all morning long. At around lunchtime on Monday there will be a few isolated thunderstorms that could spread across the valley. As we toward tomorrow, the unsettled weather will be with us.
The best chances of rain will be in the foothills and Sierra. Some action will spread to the Sacramento Valley on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning there will be a chance of a couple showers before the area of low pressure finally moves out and we start to dry out. Temperatures will get up to 76 in Modesto and 74 in Sacramento, Vacaville and Elk Grove. There's an isolated chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon.
Valley rain totals won't be terribly impressive. The high will be 68 in Jackson and 66 in Placerville and Georgetown. The higher you head, the cooler it will be. Temperatures will be in the 50s on the shores of Lake Tahoe.
Winds will be out of the west 5-10 mph in the mountains and bay area totals will be lighter. Later this week it will be dry, but it will start to heat up with highs reaching the upper 80s by the time we hit the weekend.
