Fires Erupt In Southern California Amid Heatwave
SAN DIEGO (AP) — Homes are being evacuated in Southern California where a wildfire fanned by gusty winds is burning near housing tracts and a second fire has destroyed a mobile home.
Authorities say a 100-acre wildfire Tuesday in the Rancho Bernardo section of San Diego is burning west through an undeveloped corridor of land among modern suburbs. Several streets have been evacuated but fire spokesman says none are in imminent danger. The fire is burning mainly in canyons near housing tracts.
Another fire has destroyed a mobile home and prompted the evacuation of five other houses in the rural town of Campo in southern San Diego County.
However, the 3-acre blaze is 80 percent surrounded and authorities say there's no active flame.
