Firefighters Make Progress On SoCal Fire

AGUA DULCE, Calif. (AP) -- A wildfire that has charred 640 acres of dry brush in a rural area of northern Los Angeles County is on track to be fully surrounded by Sunday evening.

U.S. Forest Service spokesman Nathan Judy says the fire that broke out Saturday morning in Mint Canyon near Agua Dulce is 80 percent contained. More than 400 firefighters from the Forest Service, Los Angeles County and Cal Fire continue build containment lines and prevent flare-ups.

Judy says there are no homes or buildings in the remote area, but it has been difficult to reach by ground. Eight aircraft remain assigned to the blaze.

Full containment is expected by 6 p.m.

One firefighter suffered a sprained shoulder battling the fire in the steep terrain.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
